Abbott's Mill repairs progress, week two

1 min read

The workers got a lot done in the past week. As you look at the following pictures, they were all taken in the basement in the area under the flour roller mills (as opposed to the older corn mill where the two millstones are).

All of the new structure is being painted a bright orange to distinguish the old from the new. This new work is intended to support the structure of the old mill, without actually replacing anything more than is necessary.

This is the basement area directly behind our Fairbanks-Morse diesel engine. You can see the open back door, on the left of the picture.

All the way in the back of the basement. Above the brickwall would be the front of the mill and the loading dock. Look carefully and you can see someone painting.

Halfway between the two previous photos. The old structure on the left is the Hurst Frame that supports the millstones and it's gearing.

More updates next week.
